Spring Newsletter

This has been a busy term for the partnership with so many things going on.
Festivals.
Equipment.
Training
Dates for Diary

This term seems to have been packed so I have not been available to visit all the PLT's individually which I will rectify this summer term.
Money has been made available through various fundings to purchase equipment for our schools and 8 of our cluster schools have promised to run clubs in exchange for BASE equipment.
Training has been available for those staff running the clubs and some lucky primaries even have students from Northumbria University coming in to run the clubs for them. As an added bonus, £200 will be transferred into their PE budget for the purchase of even more equipment. Well done to those schools who took up the challenge!
Two festivals have been organised this term at St. Edmund Campion School. The year 3 Springs Tennis Challenge had entries from only 2 schools but, umpired by our year 12 Community Sports Leaders, had some good games. The Multi Skills Challenge saw 7 teams competing and everyone worked hard (including the staff who were trying to keep the score!) to make the evening a success. Hopefully everyone enjoyed themselves and the summary of it is on the weblog.
Before the Multi Skills Challenge, I was invited into some of the competing schools to give the year 4's a taste of the challenges on offer. This was great fun for all concerned, including me!
I have also been into Hill Top School and St. John the Baptist Primary School helping with gymnastics and I hope this has been beneficial.
Training for primary school teachers was given in TOP Gymnastics at Birtley St. Joseph's School. Seven teachers put themselves through two evenings of fun (!) to complete the course. I hope they are all recovered and are now using the new TOP Gym cards. Well done to them. Another TOP Gymnastics training day is to be held at St. John the Baptist Primary School as an inset on 25th May from 9.00 - 1.00. If anyone else would like to avail themselves of this training and the resources that come with it please let me know so that I can order the cards.
Thank you all for your hard work and support this term.
