Easter 2007 Newsletter
This term our primary schools have been very active with 5 different activties taking place in a short term.
This term has been busy starting with the Year 3 Springs Tennis Challenge which 3 of our primaries were involved with.
Following this came the Year 4 Multiskills Challenge which, again, 3 of the primaries entered. A good evening was had by all. St Peter's were the winners.
Next came the Sportshall athletics which once again was entered by 3 primaries and won by Birtley St. Joseph Juniors. From this competition, a team was picked from the winners to represent the St. Edmund Campion Cluster at the finals held at the Gateshead International Stadium. The whole team put in a tremendous effort to come 5th overall.
The schools Dance Festival was held recently and this was a big event held over 2 days at Gateshead Leisure Centre. As yet, I do not know which of our primaries were involved but I know that the whole event was a tremendous success.
The town Swimming Galas are currently underway and I am sure that quite a few of our schools are involved in these.
This year we received funding to train staff and run a Playground Buddies Scheme. I am now trained and will be training staff in those schools who replied as soon as the equipment arrives.
Primaries now have a copy of the assessment sheet which we are piloting in this cluster to hand information over to the secondary school with the incoming year 7's.
Information relating to activities held and clubs running has been received from some PLT's and I thank these people for making my job that little bit easier.
I hope you all have a Happy Easter.
