The Top Link girls' football tournament was held on the first afternoon of what was to become the 'Monsoon Season'.
4 pupils who attended the Top Link training conference organised the event for year 5/6 girls to be held on the 12th June. They devised and printed a flyer which was sent to all schools. Entries came in from St. Joseph's. St. John the Baptist's, St. Augustine's and 2 teams from Birtley St. Joseph's Jnrs.
St. Augustine's didn't turn up so 4 teams were mixed up to try to get even games and were given countries names.
They all played each other then the top 2 and the other 2 played an extra game, all refereed by 2 of the Top Link team.
All received medals and certificates which they thoroughly deserved for managing to play through the worstening rain.
A good, if wet, afternoon was had by all and my thanks to the Top Link team and their volunteers for running a well organised event.
