The Government commits to physical education and school sport

The Government has announced 30 new Public Service Agreements (PSAs) signalling the priority outcomes to be achieved between 2008 and 2011. Physical education and school sport for children and young people are included as part of the Governments commitment to the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games and improving the health and well-being of children and young people in Britain.
The vision is to obtain far-reaching benefits from the 2012 Games, including increased sports participation for all, improved physical health and well-being through the promotion of physical activity and strengthened local communities. Children and young people have been positioned as central to ensuring this across the UK and internationally.
