Cardinal Hume Newsletter Dec. 2007

Please read the December 2007 Newsletter for the cardinal Hume Cluster

Cardinal Hume Catholic School

December 2007

This has been a busy term. Firstly, the hiccups of moving into a new school and the lack of communication with the outside world for the first ½ term caused chaos.
Secondly, the placement of 10 students from Northumbria University into our cluster schools which was completed with thanks to the schools concerned who have turned themselves inside out to accommodate them.

End of Project Report
This report is now with the heads of all our cluster schools. Attached to the back are the PESSCL results for the whole cluster as well as graphs showing the Ghd/Whickham partnership results against the rest of the country. Please try to have a look at either your head’s copy or read the version on the peas website at www.gatesheadpeas.org
The partnership has improved greatly and this cluster achieved 90% of primary schools achieving 2 hours PE in curriculum time.

Tournaments
Neither the High 5 Netball nor the Mini Basketball Tournaments took place at Cardinal Hume this year.
St. Anne’s and Birtley St. Joseph’s played against each other at Lord Lawson School with St. Anne’s becoming the winners and going on to the final. Good Luck to them.

PLT’s
Caroline from St. John’s has now begun her maternity leave and we wish her a healthy and speedy delivery.
Paul from St. Augustine’s has left the school and gone on to pastures new and we wish him luck in his new job.

Activemark
Well done to all the 9 schools who have been awarded Activemark this year. This is achieved from results submitted in the PESSCL survey.

Students
There are 10 students from Northumbria University currently on placement in our cluster schools and I will be out to assess them in the week beginning 21st Jan ’08. My thanks for all the hard work put in by the staff looking after them in the schools.

Gateshead Cross Country
Birtley St. Joseph’s girls ‘A’ team were the champions with their ‘B’ team coming 3rd. Well done on an excellent result.

Cluster Family Plan
The family plan has now been completed for the next 3 years so the Action Plans for this year will come from this shortly.

Disability Audit
Could I please have a list of all the young people in your schools who have a disability; which schools have SEN’s, what are their SEN’s, what age and gender are the pupils. Please note this is not just the pupils who have a statement. The audit is for the Special Schools so that activities can be adjusted with these pupils in mind. Thank you for your help.
