Spring Term 2008

• The Family Plan for the next 3 years is now completed and all PLT’s have a copy of it. We all need to set targets from it to ensure that as much as possible is completed in the time span.
• Since the PESSCL results from last year, the Cardinal Hume Cluster has 100% of primaries having at least 2 hours of PE & School Sport in curriculum time. Only Cardinal Hume itself needs to improve!
• The year 4 Multi-skills Festival took place at Cardinal Hume School on 30th January 2008 and 7 teams from 4 primaries competed. Also 6 teams from 3 other primaries took part in their own schools. Altogether approx. 300 pupils took part which made it a great success.
• The Sportshall Athletics followed this on 13th February with 64 pupils from 4 primaries taking part. From these athletes, a team was chosen to represent the cluster at the finals. The Cardinal Hume Cluster team came a credible 6th.
• Lastly this term was the newly devised year 2 Multi-Skills Festival with 38 pupils from 2 primaries taking part at Cardinal Hume School and 88 pupils from 2 other primaries taking part in their own schools. Great fun was had by all. A write up and photos from all of these events can be found on the ‘peas’ weblog.
• The KS1 and KS2 Skipping Challenge trophies and certificates are now into all primaries so this intra-school activity should be getting underway.
• ‘Funfit’ has now been introduced into St Anne’s and St Wilfrid’s which will hopefully begin to tackle the problem of obesity.
• Next term sees the Yr 3&4 Striking & Fielding Challenge in May, the Girls’ Mini Soccer Tournament and the boys and girls Football Tournament, both in June and the Yr 1 Multi-skills (Playday) at the beginning of July. Hopefully these will also be well attended.
• 10 x 2nd year Northumbria University students successfully completed their 30 hour placement in primaries and Cardinal Hume School. My thanks to all who looked after them so well.
• 8 x 1st year students should have now finished their 10 hour placement with thanks.
• Please could Pam Pow (SSCo) have information concerning which clubs are running in schools and numbers of girls/boys involved, as well as information about any coaches brought into the school so that she can complete her end of year report.
• Lastly, a reminder that your supply cover claim form should now be with me. Some schools have not claimed any days yet and it is important that you claim all 10 or we will lose the money. Please submit ASAP.
• My thanks for all the hard work you do as a PLT. The next PLT meeting will be Tuesday 20th May, 1.30pm at Cardinal Hume Catholic School and I hope to see you all then.
