• The summer term always brings with it the thought of having to complete the PESSCL survey and my thanks go out to all of you for completing and submitting it on-line in the allotted time. Not a nice task I know but a necessity if we want the funding for the School Sports Partnership to continue.
• This term saw 3 tournaments/festivals running with over 140 pupils participating. These were the Striking & Fielding Challenge, the 7-a-side football and the Year 1 Play Day. All events were successful and my thanks go out to the pupils from Cardinal Hume who ran 2 of the events and also to Joe at Birtley St Joseph’s for running the whole afternoon of football.
• The Intra-School Skipping Challenge should now be up and running in all primaries in the cluster and hopefully with good results. Trophies are in all schools to hand to the winners and certificates to those with good results.
• The Aquathlon was held on a very wet day (even the run was like being in the swimming pool) but with great results and well done to all of the pupils who participated in the appalling conditions. Birtley St Joseph’s teams excelled themselves.
• The weather was much better for the Primary Athletics held at the Stadium. Most of the Gateshead primaries competed with some excellent results.
• A reminder please to any school who has not yet claimed their 10 days supply cover to send in a claim form immediately or you will lose the money! Contact me if you are unsure.
• Also a reminder that you should be completing your year 6 assessments for pupils starting Cardinal Hume School in September. Please forward to me. Also thank you to those of you who gave me information about activities running in your school over the year. This was much appreciated for my End of Year Report.
• Lastly, in theory, I am retiring at the end of this term and I would like to thank you all for the help and support you have given me over the years. I say in theory, because I have been asked to continue the job until December if a replacement is not found when the interviews take place next week. Watch this space!
