Year 7 Borough-wide Representative Team Play First Match
The year 7 Town Football Team began their matches this season with a 2-2 draw at Wakefield. After dominating the first twenty minutes, it was a big surprise that they weren't lots of goals ahead.
In the end, Gateshead's goals came from Connor Halpin (Heworth Grange) and a bullet of a freekick from Luke Watson (Ryton).
An excellent result considering the squad was depleated by Academy matches, holidays and illness.

The Felling Gateshead East Primary Town football squad has just returned from playing in the English Schools FA festival at Jersey.

13/4/07 – Felling Gateshead East 3 Newbury 0
Scorers- Mitchell Galloway, Michael McGill & Connor Halpin.
THe results at the halfway stage meant that we won our group after the first stage.
Our squad was made up from children from the following schools - Lingey House (3 players), Bill Quay (2 players), Brighton Avenue, St. Peters, Kells Lane, Roman Road, Windy Nook, Oakfield & South Street.
All the squads were based in the same St. Helier hotel which enabled lots of contacts and friendships to be made. The squad shared a corridor with Bishop Auckland (who also play in the Durham County league) and each group supported each other in their matches.
When not playing, the squad took part in various leisure activities. One of these involved us travelling in twenty four degree heat to a very up market minature golf course called Living Legends. Players from Gloucester PSFA and ours were sorted into teams and played out competitions. When the overall totals were released, Gloucester were the winners. On returning to the hotel, both squads escaped into the indoor pool for a water polo match.
Further details can be found on Gloucester's website - www.gpsfa.com or our website www.fellingschoolsfa.co.uk
The squad really enjoyed themselves and didn't want to come back. Hopefully next years Primary squad will have an even better time.
The Association continues to go from stength to strength in its two main areas - school football and Town Team football. Various different events are coming up including a couple of days away at Gloucester.
New teachers to work within the Town Team setup are desperately needed. This does not need to be for a weekly commitment. Coaching, fundraising, event organisation, press are all areas where help is needed. Anyone who is interested, should contact me at Roman Road Primary School.

Primary Town Team's Mixed Bag
The Year 6 Town Teams have been busy with mixed bag of results in the 11-a-side matches played since the turn of the year. Up until last weekend, when both the first team and the reserves had matches called off at North Tyneside, no Saturdays had been lost to the weather this year.
4/2/06 – Harrison Cup (League) – Felling Gateshead East 3 Stockton 3
Scorers – Daniel Young, Leon Watson & Jack Doherty
This was always going to be a hard match. Stockton had won four out of their their five Harrison matches so far and we knew we would have to battle hard to get something from this.
Early on, Daniel Gray was forced into a good one handed save to deny Stockton. At the other end, Lee Clay burst through but saw his shot saved. Minutes later, Stockton took the lead when a looping shot went in. It didn’t take long though for the equaliser as recalled Daniel Young beat a player on the left and shot across goal into the far corner. Stockton retook the lead through their strong centre forward who broke on the right and fired powerfully in. Leon Watson then harshly had a goal ruled out for handball before Stockton increased their lead to 3-1 at half time.
The second half saw chances, strong tackles and corners at both ends with no further score the last few minutes. Leon Watson got into the six yard box, shook off a defender by using a clever turn and pulled a goal back. In the final seconds, Felling got a freekick. In the resultant goalmouth scramble, Jack Doherty got the equaliser.
28/1/06 – Durham & Northumberland Trophy (League) - North Tyneside 3 Felling Gateshead East 0
21/1/06 – Harrison Cup (League) - Felling Gateshead East 2 Peterlee 0
Scorers – Matthew Fisher & Lewis Gibbons
21/1/06 – Representative Friendly – Felling Gateshead East Reserves 0 Hartlepool 3
14/1/06 – Durham and Northumberland Trophy (League) – Felling Gateshead East 2 South Northumberland 1
Scorers – Matthew Fisher & Leon Watson
7/1/06 – Harrison Cup(League) – Felling Gateshead East 2 Derwentside 3
Scorers- Daniel DeCristofaro & Matthew Fisher.
7/1/05 – Representative Friendly – Felling Gateshead East Reserves 1 Derwentside 1
Scorer- Connor Brierley
The Town Teams continue this weekend when the year 6 First team play South Tyneside at 10am and the reserves play Wallsend Schools FA at 11am. Both matches are at home at Leam Rangers JFC (next to Hilltop School). We welcome new supporters!!!!

Town Team Record Good Win at Peterlee
The Gateshead East Primary School Town Team ended their match drought with a match at Peterlee on Saturday.
Unfortunately after all the weeks off, the squad were missing six regular players mainly due to illness. However this did not stop them as they recorded an excellent 4-3 win against good oppostion.
Debutant, Leon Watson (Corpus Christi RC) scored twice and had a hand in the other two which were scored by Jack Doherty (Oakfield) and Levi Oman (Glynwood).
A very good battling performance.

Horrible Weather Holds Up Town Team !!!
Hopefully one of these days someone in the Borough will come up with an indoor 11-a-side pitch !!!!
The Town East Primary Schools team have fallen foul to the weather over the last four weeks. Away matches at South Tyneside, Chester-le-Street & Darlington as well as a home match against Chester-le-Street have all been postponed. In addition to this, a reserve match against Hartlepool was also called off.
We've already had more postponements than all of last season put together with this been the first time ever all matches in November being lost.
The Town Team play Bishop Auckland on Saturday (hopefully) at Willington.

Town Teams great start to the season !
Felling Gateshead East Schools Representative Town Team's have started playing friendly matches at both year 6 & 7 with only one defeat over six matches.
The Year 6 first team squad have played three matches so far winning all of them against South Tyneside 8-2, Peterlee 6-4 and South Northumberland 5-1.
The Year 6 reserves played really well against the South Tyneside first team but unluckily lost 4-2. They then beat South Northumberland 'B' 5-3.
In an exciting match, the Year 7 squad also beat South Northumberland 4-2 with goals from Ben Faetz (2), Ben Hutchinson & Ian Tweddell.
At this point in time, the year 6 top goalscorers are Connor Brierley (Dunston Riverside) 6, Jack Doherty (Oakfield) 4, Lee Clay (Glynwood) 3, Matthew Fisher (St. Aidans) 3 & Levi Oman (Glynwood) 3.

Year 5 Town Team play at two matches at Hull.
Hull ‘A’ 1 Felling Gateshead East ‘A’ 1 (Jack Doherty)
Hull ‘A’ 2 Felling Gateshead East ‘B’ 0
Squads-
‘A’ Daniel Gray (Roman Road), Gregg Wallace (Kells Lane), Craig McGill (Oakfield), Adam Motteshead [capt] (Oakfield), Michael Brown (St. Albans), Jack Doherty (Oakfield), Lewis Gibbons (Kelvin Grove), Connor Brierley (Dunston Riverside), Levi Oman (Glynwood), Mattthew Fisher (St. Aidans) & Daniel Young (Glynwood).
‘B’ Daniel Gray (Roman Road), Gregg Wallace (Kells Lane), Daniel Feetham (Colegate), David Daley (Glynwood), Thomas Snowdon (St. Johns), Liam Willis (St. Johns), Luke Davies (Oakfield), Jordan Lee (Harlow Green), Cameron Hutchinson (Harlow Green), Matt Atkinson (The Drive) & Jonathan Graham (Brandling).

Due to a lack of formed District teams, the first day trip for the y5 team saw a long journey to Hull take place. Team selection was made difficult by having four defenders unavailable.
The ‘A; match saw Felling being put under pressure for a lot of the first half. They found it difficult to control a very lively Hull centre forward. Chances were limited and best piece of football in the half saw the ball fall to captain Adam Motteshead whose shot went wide. Defenders getting pulled out of place and a lack of offside experience contributed to Hull scoring.
The second half saw Felling improve greatly and were clearly the better side. Matthew Fisher, Lewis Gibbons and Daniel Young all had shots. Good movement and passing saw the ball reach Matthew Fisher whose fierce cross missed Lewis and was coolly finished by Jack Doherty. Some excellent tackles were put in by stand in right back Gregg Wallace.
It was the other way around in the ‘B’ match against Hull ‘A’ – a good first half but a poorer second half. Chances fell to Matt Atkinson Liam Willis and Jordan Lee. Daniel Gray pulled off an outstanding point blank save to deny Hull in the first half.
In the second half, Felling were put under real pressure as Hull put their excellent strikeforce back on. It looked like the team were going to hold out for a 0-0 draw until Hull got two goals in the last few minutes when Felling didn’t attack the ball properly.

Some of the year 5 Representative squad played in the County Year 5 competition at Burnhope Primary School on Saturday.
The format of the competition saw two teams being entered by five Associations with the exception of Chester-le-Street who had one team and Derwentside who had three.
All Association's points were then added together to find the winner.
It is really pleasing to report that Felling Gateshead East won overall. A massive achievement and down to the squad's hard work over the last few months.
The squad is now looking forward to an away day next week when they travel away to play Hull.
The winning squads at the weekend were:
'A' Daniel Gray (Roman Road), Daniel DeCristifaro (The Drive), Conor Cooper (Wardley, Adam Mottershead [capt] (Oakfield), Connor Brierley (Dunston Riverside), Lewis Gibbons (Kelvin Grove), Levi Oman (Glynwood), Cameron Hutchinson (Harlow Green),Matthew Fisher (St. Aidans) & Daniel Young (Glynwood)
'B' Sam Diamond (Roman Road), Michael Brown (St. Albans), Craig McGill, Jack Doherty, Luke Davies (all Oakfield), Liam Willis (St. Johns), Jordan Lee (Harlow Green), Gregg Wallace (Kells Lane) & Matt Atkinson (The Drive).
