Sports Enterprise @ Thomas Hepburn

A 'Sports Enterprise' Day recently took place at Thomas Hepburn Community School, which involved approximately 50 Year 10/11 PE Students. The overall aim of the day was to inform the pupils of the various pathways available which can lead to a career within the sporting industry.
The event was organised in parternship between the Gateshead/Whickham SSP, Gateshead Council Sport & Physical Activity Development Unit and Gateshead Council Education Business Links Service. For further info, please click the 'continue reading' link below:
The day was split into 2 sessions, with the morning session focusing on various roles within sport and the skills/qualities required to obtain these roles. A motivational speech as also given by Emily Sarsfield (British No.1 Skier), describing her peronsal experiences of a life within sport.
The afternoon session then took place at Whickham Thorns Outdoor Activity Centre, which had a 'team building' focus - looking at putting the skills/qualities that had been discussed; into practice.

THOMAS HEPBURN Cluster Girls Football

The Thomas Hepburn tournament was a great success as on a lovely sunny day teams representing 8 of our Primary schools met and played a number of good spirited matches. They all enjoyed the afternoon and all increased their footballing skills and experience. The eventual winners were South Street School who narrowly beat Colegate A in the Final.
A big thankyou to all staff involved and congratulations to all the girls for their effort and excellent sporting spirit.
